Blueheart is a therapy app designed to help couples navigate intimacy challenges and reconnect with one another. When they approached us, they wanted to create a film that addressed a sensitive subject in a way that felt empathetic, hopeful, and universally relatable.
Rather than approaching the topic directly, we worked with the Blueheart team to develop a metaphorical narrative that captured the emotional experience many couples face—feelings of loneliness, distance, and disconnection.
The metaphor we chose was outer space.
Space offered the perfect setting to visualize emotional distance: two people drifting apart in a vast, quiet universe, unsure of how to find their way back to one another. Together with the Blueheart team, we refined the story and script to ensure the message remained compassionate and hopeful while still honoring the vulnerability of the subject.
From there, we developed the storyboards and visual direction, creating characters that balanced playfulness with emotional depth. The illustrations were designed to feel warm and human within the vastness of space, reinforcing the idea that connection is always possible—even when it feels far away.
Music played a critical role in the storytelling. We worked closely on the soundtrack to mirror the emotional arc of the piece—beginning with a sense of quiet isolation and gradually evolving into warmth and hope as the story progresses.
The result is a visually poetic animation that communicates a deeply personal experience through metaphor, helping couples feel seen while reminding them that reconnection is possible.
